Kris Stokes is a graphite artist based in Belper, Derbyshire.

Kris brings a strong sense of composition, white space, and structure to each piece before developing the image through intricate layers of graphite, light, and texture.

"I love the way characters sometimes appear while I'm drawing. I might start with an animal, but somewhere along the way a personality emerges — and suddenly I'm not just drawing a creature; I'm remembering someone, imagining someone, telling a little story."

Kris is currently developing a cohesive body of work for exhibition and open-call opportunities, while making selected original drawings and limited edition prints available.
